Lisa Williams has the ability to talk to the dead ever since she was a child of four years.
Lisa Penelope Williams was born on June 19, 1973 in Birmingham, England. She was only three years old when she began to see dead people for the first time. They were clownish with strange blown-up faces who kept appearing in and out of the walls of her room. Some would even talk to her and tell her things, so she would listen to them, which greatly annoyed her parents.
When she was five, her family moved into a council house in Redditch, Worcestershire, about twenty miles south of Birmingham, where she lived until she turned nineteen. She attended Ten Acres First School and befriended a girl named Samantha (Sam) Hodson, who is still her friend to this day. Because of a hearing defect that rendered her partially hard of hearing, she had a little difficulty adjusting academically. But she quickly learned to compensate for it and grew to love sports and music, eventually joining the school choir.
Throughout all her life she continued to have strangely vivid dreams that felt real to her, which her parents simply attributed to her overactive imagination. It never made sense to her why her parents never believed her, especially because her mother’s mother Frances Glazebrook, experienced visions that came true and saw dead people as well. Her grandmother’s favorite demonstration venue was a place called Harbourne Healing Centre, where she would communicate with people who had passed over and share the messages with their loved ones. Lisa started calling her grandmother Airplane Nanny or Nan because she traveled all over the world to do her readings.
One day, while playing at her friend Sam’s house, they began to play with a pack of playing cards. Sam would have Lisa try and guess the cards as she picked up one at a time and Lisa got all fifty two cards right! Still not convinced she had the gift, Sam had Lisa try to guess the titles of books and she got them right as well. As a result of her discoveries with Sam, she went to visit her grandmother, Frances, that weekend who told her she was not surprised at her so-called gifts. Lisa’s intuitions and feelings began growing stronger as she entered Arrow Vale High School while she began thinking about becoming a teacher either in music or physical education. She stayed in school long enough to complete her A-levels, the exam necessary to qualify for university, but never achieved high enough grades to attend.
Throughout the next several years, she took many part-time or full time jobs doing anything from clerical reception work to bartending to teaching fitness and aerobics classes. Lisa went to see a few “real” psychics as well as crystal ball readers, palm readers and mediums in order to discover the real impact of her psychic abilities. While few of those impressed her, one such psychic she met at Kensington Market convinced her that she was the real deal.
Her Nan also did a reading for her, something she rarely did for her own family members, but she had made an exception for Lisa. It was only later on in Lisa’s life when she realized the reading her Nan had done for her would prove to be accurate. In Lisa’s reading, Nan told her she would eventually be famous, have many relationships but only truly love twice, have two older men in her life (one of which she would marry while the other would open doors for her and take her to America) and that she would have only one child. Her Nan was also convinced that Lisa was to follow in her footsteps, even if she did not know where or how to begin doing this type of work.
Not long afterwards, she began to do readings. She soon met Simon Shore, a fine arts dealer, at a party she attended and as predicted she gave birth to her son, Charles Edward Williams-Shore, on Saturday, April 15, 2000. Unfortunately, her relationship with Simon ended several months later. After some time passed she met her husband, Kevin, through another friend she had met via an online dating service. They were married on October 30, 2004. Her work as a full-time medium doing readings led her to America, where her television show, Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead, was picked up by the Lifetime TV network.
Lisa currently divides her time between her home in Los Angeles and the small town of Redditch in beautiful Worcestershire, where she lives with her husband, Kevin, and eight-year-old son, Charlie. She has recently published her own autobiography entitled Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead, where she talks about her experiences growing up and how she became the phenomenal success she is today.
John Edwards is a famous psychic medium, author, lecturer and a predictor of future events.
John Edward is one of the world’s most famous mediums. His fame stems from his television program, Crossing over with John Edwards. On this program, John performs live psychic readings on members of the studio audience.
He was born as John Edward McGee Jr. on October 19, 1969 in Glen Cove, New York, the son of a police officer. John was raised as a Roman Catholic and showed signs of psychic ability at an early age. He seemed to know quite a bit about family history and things that happened before he was born, so many members of his family thought he was “special.”
The idea of psychic ability was accepted and embraced by his family, so there was no fuss made about his abilities. John’s childhood was relatively normal, and his abilities continued to develop.
He studied Public Administration and Health Care Administration, but ultimately became aware of his psychic abilities. After meeting Lydia Clar, a famous psychic in her own right, John devoted himself to developing his psychic talents. Lydia told him that his life’s work would involve teaching people about the paranormal, and John became increasingly aware that his mission as a medium was to give comfort and hope to people by putting them in contact with their departed loved ones. With Lydia’s guidance, John worked with a wide array of individuals and entities. By 2000, the enormous popularity of Crossing Over made him a household name. Sadly, the television show was recently cancelled after a spate of audience members protested on the internet and in traditional press that their conversations with John were cut and pasted together out of order and that his many “misses” and temper tantrums were cut from the show.
John Edward describes himself as a psychic medium and devotes all his time to his work in this field. He travels around the world giving live audience readings and making personal appearances. He is so popular that he stopped scheduling personal readings in 2002, and there is a three-year wait for an appointment. John also spends his time giving lecture, teaching, doing research, and writing about parapsychology.
John has written several books, including One Last Time, What if God Were the Sun, Crossing Over, The Stories Behind Stories, After Life: Answers from the Other Side and Practical Praying: Using Rosary to Enhance Your Life.

James Van Praagh
James Van Praagh is a medium who works with people who have left the physical plane and have messages for their love one.
James Van Praagh calls himself a ‘survival evidence’ medium. This means that he gives proof of life after death by communicating detailed messages from people who have died. James says he is ‘clairsentient,” meaning that he feels the emotion and personality of the deceased person he makes contact with. He is also clairvoyant and compares his experience to that of the Whoopi Goldberg in the movie, Ghost. Essentially, he receives the feelings behind the words in messages from the deceased. James has felt these feelings for most of his life and says that spirits communicate through emotions because there are no words in any language to describe the sensations that spirits experience.
James became well-known when he appeared on The Other Side, a program on NBC television that explored the paranormal. James, being a favorite guest, became its expert on life after death. His television appearances on Oprah, Larry King Live, 20/20, and 48 Hours made him even more popular. In the past 22 years, he has written best-selling books, created meditation programs and videos, taught classes in mediumship, conducted seminars, and produced several successful television projects, including Ghost Whisperer.
James Van Praagh was born in Bayside, New York. The youngest of four children, he was always fascinated by death. When he was 8 years old, he was praying for God to reveal Himself and saw an open hand appear through the ceiling of his room. Beams of light were coming from the hand, but James had no fear of the vision. He says that the whole thing was very peaceful. At 14, he entered the Catholic seminary, and while there, he discovered a new sense of spirituality, but he knew that there was no training he could receive to prepare him for what became his life- long vocation: communicating with the dead.
James went to San Francisco State University, graduating with a degree in Broadcasting and Communications, and then moved to Los Angeles. At one point, he was invited to a session with a medium, even though he didn’t know what a ‘medium’ was. James was doubtful about the whole thing when the medium told him that he, James, would become a medium within two years. His psychic sensitivity increased, however, and he started to do psychic readings for his friends. At the readings, he began to receive messages from the Other Side. This seemed strange to him at first, but the more he learned about psychic phenomena, he had to admit that he had a gift for reaching the Beyond.
James is recognized as one of the top mediums in the world. He knows that some people are skeptical of his abilities, and James says he is skeptical too. He knows that he is communicating with the dead, but he doesn’t believe that anyone can. According to James, psychics sense energy around objects or living people. Mediums not only sense this energy, but they can serve as an interface between the rapid vibrations of the spirit world and the slower vibrations of the material world.
James does not claim to see into the future, but he can provide details to prove that individuals have survived death. He believes that we are spirit beings and that there is more to us than the time we spend on the physical plane.
James has written a number of books, including Talking to Heaven, Reaching to Heaven, Healing Grief, Heaven and Earth: Making the Psychic Connection, Looking Beyond: A Teen’s Guide to the Spiritual World, Meditations with James Van Praagh. He has also been involved with several successful TV projects, including Beyond with James Van Praagh (2002-2003), Living with the Dead (mini-series 2002), The Dead Will Tell (2004).
